Thomas G. Draper, Jr.
specializes in estate planning,
probate and estate
administration, and taxation.
Representing both individuals
and businesses, he successfully
advises clients in numerous T&E
issues, such as the use of
trusts as the designated
beneficiary of IRAs at death;
the successful choice of income
and estate tax elections to
minimize taxes; complex
fiduciary accounting; the
complexities of administering
large trusts and estates,
including those with charitable
interests; and minimizing
fiduciary income tax through
distributions, allocation of
expenses and sophisticated tax
elections. |

Thomas is a member and
former co-chair of the Section
on Estates, Trusts and
Surrogate’s Court Practice of
the New York County Lawyers’
Association and currently chairs
the Legislation and Government
Regulation Committee of that
section. He is also a member of
the Trusts and Estates Section
of the New York State Bar
Association. |

lectured on a number of estate
planning issues for bar
associations as part of their
Continuing Legal Education
programs. Topics include
“Representing the Professional –
The Estate Planning
Perspective,” for the New York
County Lawyers’ Association;
“Trust Situs and Fiduciary State

County Lawyers’ Association;
“Drafting and Administering a
Revocable Trust,” for the
Association of the Bar of the
City of New York; and “Revocable
Trusts: Estate Planning for the
Middle Class Client,” for the

Thomas, who served as an
officer in the U.S. Coast Guard,
is a graduate of the University
of Michigan and received his
J.D. from Columbia Law School.
He received his LLM in taxation
from New York University. |
